Renewals fail for ordinary reasons: an expired card, insufficient funds at the moment we tried, a new card number, or a bank blocking an international or a recurring charge.
What happens automatically
- We retry the payment over the following days.
- If another payment method is stored on the account, we may use it.
- Access may be suspended while a payment is outstanding, and resumes as soon as one succeeds.
- If the retries do not succeed, the subscription is cancelled.
What to do
- Check that the card has not expired and has funds available.
- If your bank blocked it, approving the charge in your banking app is often enough — recurring charges from a US merchant are a common false positive.
- To change the card, see Updating your payment method.
Your progress is safe
A failed payment does not touch your progress, streak, XP or certificates. They are waiting when access resumes.
If the subscription was cancelled
You can start again at any time. Note that a new subscription is charged at the price current on that day, which may not be the price you had before.
